We can only do remote surveys for 2020.
Our knowledge of the local area and use of geological and soil mapping technology means we can still provide desk-based consultancy services.
Our Orchard Consultancy service starts with a telephone call and proceeds with a virtual site visit and survey. We may ask you to send us photographs of your site, which we will use with satellite imagery and soil mapping services to survey the site. We will gather detailed information about your plans for the orchard via email or telephone.
We prepare a technical report based on our findings. This will typically include sections on aspect, climate, soils and soil nutrients, recommended fruit varieties and any other issues raised during the virtual site visit.
Please note that for the 2020-21 season we will not be supplying fruit trees. However, we will be able to recommend suitable suppliers.
We are often asked about restoring old or neglected orchards. An old orchard is a magnificent thing and usually supports a wide range of wildlife. Poor orchard management can ruin both the trees and the wildlife. Before you start up the chainsaw consider that there may be many years of productive life left in the trees. All they may need is a little extra care.
We can advise on ways to restore old orchards to productivity. If you want to save an old orchard but don’t know how then please use the form below to contact us. Please note we no longer carry out pruning or restoration work ourselves.
