Orchard Consultancy

‍Site ‍Visit

‍Our ‍Orchard ‍Consultancy ‍service ‍starts ‍with ‍a ‍site ‍visit ‍and ‍survey.  The ‍site ‍visit ‍usually ‍takes ‍around ‍two ‍hours ‍and ‍may ‍involve ‍digging ‍test ‍holes ‍and ‍taking ‍soil ‍samples.  During ‍the ‍visit ‍we ‍will ‍also ‍gather ‍detailed ‍information ‍about ‍your ‍plans ‍for ‍the ‍orchard.

‍Technical ‍Report

‍Following ‍the ‍site ‍visit ‍we ‍prepare ‍a ‍technical ‍report ‍based ‍on ‍our ‍findings.  This ‍will ‍typically ‍include ‍sections ‍on ‍aspect, ‍climate, ‍soils ‍and ‍soil ‍nutrients, ‍recommended ‍fruit ‍varieties ‍and ‍any ‍other ‍issues ‍raised ‍during ‍the ‍site ‍visit.

‍Sourcing ‍the ‍Orchard

‍If ‍you ‍wish ‍we ‍can ‍source ‍all ‍your ‍orchard ‍trees ‍- ‍from ‍a ‍just ‍a ‍few ‍to ‍hundreds ‍if ‍needed.  We ‍select ‍trees ‍from ‍only ‍the ‍top ‍UK ‍growers ‍so ‍you ‍can ‍be ‍assured ‍that ‍your ‍orchard ‍gets ‍off ‍to ‍a ‍good ‍start.

Breathing new life into old orchards

We are often asked about restoring old or neglected orchards.  An old orchard is a magnificent thing and usually supports a wide range of wildlife.  Poor orchard management can ruin both the trees and the wildlife.  Before you start up the chainsaw consider that  there may be many years of productive life left in the trees.  All they may need is a little extra care.

We can survey old orchards and advise on ways to restore them back to productivity.  If you want to save an old orchard but don’t know how then please use the form below to contact us.

We can help with site surveys, selecting the right varieties for your orchard according to aspect, climate, soils, intended use and the tricky issues of pollination and rootstock selection.
